Why do we feel Stress?

At its core, stress is our body's way of reacting to perceived threats. No matter what the challenge may be, our nervous system triggers a "fight, flight, freeze or fawn" response almost automatically. What seems like in that moment, stress has taken over your entire nervous system. It becomes overwhelming, it affects your physical, emotional & spiritual well-being, disrupting your peace. This response is usually called the Trauma Response. Your body is reacting to a unacknowledged & unhealed past trauma & in that moment stress hormone, cortisol..etc, are released that causes intense anxiety, which may seem uncontrollable at that time. The good news is thet it is totally controllable! The key to healing is learning how to regulate your nervous system. 

Without regulation, the nervous system continues to react as if the threat is still present even long after the experience has passed.
